Most patients referred to the neurology service will be seen at a general neurology clinic. At the clinic, a consultant neurologist or specialist trainee in neurology provides clinical assessment and arranges investigations as needed. Common investigations may include blood tests and scans of the brain and spinal cord. Most patients have their symptoms and concerns addressed at the general neurology clinic, with advice on treatment and follow up if required at the clinic.
General neurology clinics are offered at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Royal Alexandra Hospital at Paisley, Inverclyde Royal Infirmary at Greenock, Vale of Leven Hospital at Alexandria and the Institute of Neurological Sciences at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow.
