Myasthenia Gravis

 What is Myasthenia Gravis?

People with Myasthenia Gravis have a fault in the way electrical messages travel from the nerves to the muscles. As a result, muscles easily tire and become weak. Muscles that can be affected in Myasthenia Gravis include:

– Muscles that move the arms and legs

– Face and eye muscles

– Muscles of swallowing and breathing

What does our service offer?

We offer clinical assessment and diagnostic tests which may confirm or refute the diagnosis of Myasthenia Gravis. Patients may require blood tests and other muscle and nerve tests to confirm a diagnosis.

Once a diagnosis of Myasthenia Gravis is made, a range of treatments are available. With treatment, most people can expect an improvement in their symptoms.
