Neurology in Glasgow and Clyde

The Adult Neurology service in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde provides specialist assessment and treatment for neurological disorders. Neurological disorders are illnesses related to the nervous system, which includes the brain, spinal cord, nerves and muscles.

This website provides an overview of our services at the Institute of Neurological Sciences, a purpose built neurosciences centre, which opened in 1970. The Institute is at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow. The Institute has dedicated neurosciences acute and day wards, neuro-intensive care and high dependency units, operating theatres, 1.5 and 3 Tesla MRI scanners, CT scanners and interventional neuroradiology suites. This website also provides some information on common neurological conditions, with links to recommended websites for further information and support for patients and their families.

Our service includes 35 consultant neurologists, 13 specialist trainees in neurology, 24 clinical nurse specialists, clinical researchers, consultant neuropsychologists, experienced nurses, allied healthcare professionals including pharmacists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, dieticians and occupational therapists. We work closely with the neurosurgery, clinical neurophysiology, neuroradiology, neuroanaesthetics and neuro-rehabilitation services.
